PVC Insulated Crimp Terminals are very popular and are often preferred to F-Type Ring Terminals (also known as non or un-insulated crimps) because apart from their insulation properties they also offer extra support for the cable as it enters the crimp terminal and due to the industry standard colour scheme it ensures that the crimp and the wire size are matched. They also form a very neat and aesthetically pleasing crimping solution. The standard red, blue, yellow insulation colour scheme is common amongst all crimp terminal manufacturers however there are slight variations in the wire sizes quoted by them. Generally red insulation is for wire sizes from 0.25mm2 to 1.5mm2, blue from 1.5mm2 to 2.5mm2 and yellow from 4.0mm2 to 6.0mm2. Some manufacturers also offer ranges for smaller wire sizes from 0.2mm2 to 0.5mm2.
