Panduit cable ties for exposure to chemicals, fuels and oils

Standard Nylon 6/6 cable ties have good resistance to greases, lubricants and fuels but they are not resistant to strong mineral acids and oxidising chemicals. For cable ties exposed to potentially damaging chemicals Panduit offer ranges in polypropylene, Tefzel, Halar, PEEK and stainless steel. To help you select the best cable ties to withstand the chemicals that they may be exposed to, please refer to the Panduit chemical resistance table.

Polypropylene cable ties exhibit excellent resistance to acids and are more cost effective than cable ties in Tefzel, Halar, PEEK and stainless steel. Their natural colour is green but there is also a black weather resistant version for outdoor use and a blue metal detectable version for use in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Due to the nature of the material, polypropylene cable ties are not as strong as standard Nylon 6/6 but their exceptional chemical resistance and a temperature range of -60°C to 115°C makes them invaluable in certain applications, especially in the presence of hydrochloric acid.

When consulting the Panduit chemical resistance table you will see that Tefzel cable ties and Halar cable ties show exceptional resistance to all the chemicals listed and combine this with high temperature ratings, radiation resistance and low flammability. These cable ties are designed for use in nuclear power plants, chemical processing plants, aviation and space industries and hospitals.

PEEK cable ties and stainless steel cable ties show excellent resistance to most of the chemicals in the Panduit chemical resistance table but there are a few exceptions where they do not perform quite as well as those in polypropylene, Tefzel and Halar. However they are stronger and can withstand higher temperatures.
